We are a group of teenagers dedicated to building a more sustainable world through education and action. We believe that after so many years of destruction, this generation must work to restore the beauty of nature and bring it back into our daily lives.
Sustainable Gardens at Home
Cauliflower and Brussels sprouts are a great crop for summer. Here are some growing in a home built bed.
Nasturtiums do great in LA! These were grown in a small plastic planter from Home Depot. They were simple and inexpensive to grow, take up minimal space, and are delicious.
This rare native agave was recently moved to the ground. These agave plants are on the rise, but not very fast. It's up to us to make sure California native plants like this one don't disappear.
A week ago, this was one of three rotten turnips from the back of the fridge. With some water and compost, these plant will soon provide turnip greens and some un-rotten turnips. Planting uneaten root vegetables is a great way to reduce food waste as well as save money on vegetables.
This lavender plant goes crazy every spring. It takes very little care and its flowers make delicious tea, syrup, and even ice cream!
The compost from our kitchen waste nourishes this baby tomato plant. Compost holds water a lot better than your average soil: mine stays moist for more than a week!
